Systems that students to and through college.
Creating the programs, supports, and infrastructure to increase successful transition to and persistence in college.
What I do:
I help higher education institutions and non-profits design programs that help first-generation students make the move to college and succeed once they're there. I have experience launching pilots, refining programs, and scaling for impact in addition to building and facilitating high-engagement training and leading strategic planning processes.
-
Whether you're launching something new or trying to get more out of a program you already run, I help you build the structure behind it: clear goals, roles, systems, and the data you need to know whether it's working.
This can look like:
Reviewing a program model and recommending changes to support growth
Assessing staffing structures and caseloads as you scale
Building data systems that help staff reach students before they fall behind
Researching what peer programs are doing and turning it into recommendations you can use
From my work: At CUNY, I built a system to track student engagement and flag students stalling on enrollment tasks. Advisors used it to reach out proactively, and high-touch advising interactions rose 35%.
-
Peer mentors reach students in ways staff often can't, and the work changes the mentors too. I help you design the hiring, training, and supervision structures that make peer mentorship work for students and for mentors.
This can look like:
Designing a peer mentor model, from roles and caseloads to supervision
Building hiring pipelines, including hiring through Federal Work Study
Creating training and ongoing professional development for mentors
Setting up supervision structures and pathways for mentors to grow into leadership
From my work: I founded College & Career Bridge for All at CUNY, which employs 200+ college students to advise 50,000 NYC seniors each year. Bridge serves two-thirds of CUNY's first-time freshmen and increases CUNY enrollment by 7 percentage points.
-
I design and facilitate planning processes that end with clear decisions and next steps.
This can look like:
Facilitating team planning and retreats
Leading a program through redesign and change
From my work: I led CUNY Tutor Corps through a transition in program model. Two years later, the program has new funding, is piloting a new model, and is serving 300+ ninth graders with 60 college student tutors.
-
I design training that is interactive and practical, built around what your mentors and staff will actually do with students.
This can look like:
Training for mentors, advisors, and staff on college access, financial aid, and student-centered coaching
Reviewing existing training and identifying gaps
Facilitating team training, virtually or in person (location dependent)
From my work: I've facilitated in-person and virtual training for groups of 25 to 200 mentors, school counselors, and higher education staff.
